This can involve taking a step back from a situation and looking at it objectively, without getting caught up in emotional reactions. It can also involve asking ourselves questions like “What can I do to improve this situation?” or “What small steps can I take to move forward?”

Once we’ve identified the controllables, we can prioritise them and take action. This might involve setting specific goals or creating a plan for how to achieve them. It might also involve cultivating a positive attitude and a growth mindset, which can help us to stay motivated and resilient in the face of setbacks.
